This is what has happened to the republican party. Bush destroyed the party and the Libertarians hijacked it. They can't win as Libertarians so they use a party that had been brought to its knees. This is the Tea Party. Wealthy Libertarians fund the Tea Party and most of their candidates were Libertarian before they "switched". The Paul Ryan Budget has been called the Ayn Rand Budget. They are pro corporate, anti working class and privatize everything. They will lie and use popular messages to trick people into voting against their own best interest. They view society as having only two groups, the "producers" and the "parasites". This explains why they are trying to destroy Medicare. They see the elderly as no longer having a purpose. If you are old and wealthy, that's a different matter.
