"Religious extremist and Tea Party zealot Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) already deplorable presidential campaign has just hit a new low. Up to this point, he has made outright lies, shameless pandering, opportunistic flip-flopping and hypocrisy the main strategies in order to sell a vision of apocalyptic doom and fear that has very little relation to reality. But apparently that hasn’t been enough for Mr. Cruz, who is so scared of his rivals that he has resorted to threatening voters with the mailing equivalent of Internet pop-up ads. The Iowan Secretary of State, Paul Pate, furiously slammed Cruz today for his dirty scheme: “Today I was shown a piece of literature from the Cruz for President campaign that misrepresents the role of my office, and worse, misrepresents Iowa election law.” The Cruz campaign has been mailing voters fake citations that inform the recipient and their neighbors that they have committed a “voting violation” and have poor “voting scores,” which vaguely imply that some sort of punishment is in store if they do not attend the caucus"
